Great weekend

This will be a great weekend to remember. On Friday evening we just hung out at home and relaxed, we are lacking sleep so a Long hot bath was very well deserved, they are few and far between now with the little chicken nugget around.

My best friend of 30 years came down to see my babe and Tino and I on Saturday. She had not met Ottavia yet so it was really special. Its hard for us to see eachother we live is seperate cities, she's got her own family and now I have mine. I wish so bad she lived in the same city, Ottavia loved her and Tino and I really enjoyed her company.

She arrived saturday morning, I was so excited to see her. I fed the babe and we headed to the mall. I have been wanting to get ottavia's ear's pierced but have been waiting for a good time...there is never a good time :( Saturday it was, we had lunch in the food courst then headed to merle norman, it wasn't busy, i didn't have time to think about it, we walked right in and within minutes Ottavia was on Tanis's lap on the chair ready to go, I stepped out....

When i came back she was MAD LIKE A HORNET...not from pain but she was so pissed even before they started because Tanis had to hold her head still but by within 30 sec's the crying was done, here are a few pictures of before and directly after...and a few hours later..they are so adorable!

Poor thing, but I promise it didn't last long she was a trooper and its all worth it. We finished our evening with appy's and Wine and cocktails, it was a great day.

Sunday morning started early as usual, there are no more sleep in weekends and we had coffee and made breakfast and Tanis was on her way...I was sad to see her go but we'll eachother again soon :)

Today we had a fussy mussy baby, but She is in bed now, lets hope for a good night, we just never know with this turkey :)

Bakery Success

I don't mean to toot my horn by any means but I am a really awsome cook, I hardly ever need a reciepe, I can whip up anything in a flash usually, I even enjoy cooking, getting the groceries, planning the meal, choosing the wine..BUT....

I'm not much of a baker. I don't really enjoy baking, I'm not creative when it comes to baking, my banana bread and Chocolate chip cookies are the only thing I know that will really taste good, plus, when you bake something its usually not the healthiest, the its in the house and someone has to eat.

Yesterday was my super duper Husband's birthday so I though instead of buying a dry cake from safeway I'll bake one and I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF. It not only looks great it tasted so awsome too. I made a marble yellow and chocolate, your all going to laugh because its looks nothing special, but I put my heart and soul into it.

Yesterday Ottavia had her 4 month shots that were not bad at all, I have no dramatic tale to tell other then she slept really good last night, I gave her some tylenol i think her legs are sore, she felt hot and nobody sleeps good when they feel like crap so a little tylenol won't hurt anyone.

For dinner we ordered Thai food, one our our favourte take out places Ruan Thai, its more expensive then chinese but its so delicious and spicey.

Jana and kelly came over for a drink and cake, it was a nice evening, here are a few pictures of the day!







Nobody wanted the "nub" of the cake so we dug right into the middle!! TALK ABOUT DELISH LAYED CHOCOLATE YELLOW MARBLE CAKE!

We sent half of it home with kelly and jana!

I just have to end this with saying....when Tino blew out the candles I hope he wished for spring :)

Ottavia's Monthly Newsletter: 4 months

Dear Ottavia,

This past month we have made a lot of new milestones. You have started to play, your still not reaching out to grab a toy but if something touches your hand or i set a toy on your chest you will play. You went into your excersaucer and Jolly jumper and really played this month, its so much fun and gives us so many laughs to see you enjoying something. We can play peek a boo and you laugh and smile, when Daddy comes home and says hello you hide your face in my chest and smile so big, anything makes your smile.

You are getting SO big. We had you weighed yesterday and you were 16.2 pounds..WOW. Your already wearing 6-9 months clothes, some are a little big but most of them fit you well.

You and your dad are VERY close, you both just love eachother. Daddy does special fun things that Mom doesn't do, like skating on the island, taking you on tours, he knows how to calm you down, or saturday morning soccer in bed, you love weekend mornings in bed with us, its our special bonding time.

Now for the downfalls, Ottavia we've had a rough couple weeks with your eating and sleeping. Since friday or the day before you turned 4 months you started to refuse to eat. You have always been a VERY fussy eater, I can't talk when i'm feeding you, the TV can't be to loud, I can only hold you on the one side, if i take the bottle out, thats it you won't take any more. On saturday it was a problem, you didn't have wet diapers, you would not eat, it was frustrating but worrisome all at the same time. Its still been a fight and i really don't think its a sore throat but we took you to the clinic anyways and they say thats what it is. I thought maybe you have been teething because the drool is crazy. Even at bedtime, its become a bit stressfull because you may or may not eat...something we are working on.

Sleep has also been terrible. You are waking up so often and crying for no reason, I finally give in to feed you, its also frustrating because a tired baby is a fussy baby. If you don't get your morning nap, we are in big trouble, we have a consult with a sleep specialist something like the baby whisperer so hopefully we will get this nipped in the but.

Speaking of sleep we have got your naps down pat I think, the only thing we need to work on is giving up the soother, its become a prop and i think when the soother falls out at night you wake up.

You LOVE to skype with Baba and Poppa. They sent you a care package from florida with a soft bunny in it and you've really taken to it, i think it might be your new favourite little toy.

Ottavia we love you so much, you definilty keep us on our toes and your smile and laughs are so rewarding. The older you get the more fun you are, sometimes i wish time would stand still...we love you baby
