Under the Weather...

On saturday morning Mom, Dad and Babe all woke up a little tired, from there it got worse, little O wouldn't eat her bottle, I could tell she was hungry would take a few sucks and stop and start crying...then came lunch time we wanted her to eat so we could do our regular saturday thing, Nope, would not take the bottle so Now i'm like maybe teething, she was still smiling, she would nurse just fine, this went on all day so by bedtime i was starting to get concerned, we tried to give her the nightime bottle had a few sucks and nothing, she also didn't reallly have a wet diaper in 2 hours so I knew that she could get dehydrated soon, we gave her some tylenol put her in her crib and she went to sleep.

By this time i was uncertain about what was going on, maybe a UTI, maybe an ear infection who knows she couldn't tell me, so I called health link, they were useless, so at 830 i went in her room and did a dream feed and she ate the whole bottle, she also woke up at 330am and she ate the whole thing.

We woke up this morning with a new perspective and nothing so we decieded to take her in to the Cochrane urgent care, its really quiet because it just opened, she was a good girl, no fever but a red throat..the verdict...Strep Throat?? Maybe....they did a swab, gave a perscription and will the call with the results. They said to keep her on tylenol so we just tried feeding her and she did eat but only 4 oz's...wish us luck!

Swaddle...or not Too

O is almost 4 months, and at about 6 weeks she wasn't sleeping longer then 4 hours so I took some advice from a friend and started swaddling her and Voila...she's usually sleeping good..........

So the last few nights bedtime has been stressfull and tonight I kind of lost my patients..after bedtime routine we stick her in the swaddle sac, feed her and she is down for the night, but she went on a hunger strike and wouldn't take her bottle unless she had her arms out, so finally tonight we didn't swaddle her for the first time, and she's been in her crib for and hour and 40 minutes and just went to sleep with some fussing. I realize its an adjustment for her, but soon she will want her blanky, cover her face, roll around and get comfy so I have to stop swaddling one day or another. I put some socks on her hands because she likes to scratch her face. This could be a rough couple nights but we'll see how it goes.....

Its so sad, my new born baby is no longer newborn and little, she is turning into this amazing little girl with spirit, laughter, smiles, tears emotions....ugh, it makes me sad!

Mastered the Napy Nap!

I can finally say I feel confident that I mastered the at least 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I've been doing it for about 10 days and only once did O wake up an hour after crying, so I stuck the soother in and she slept another hour.

I have to say getting on a good daily schedule has been tough. I'm so orderly with things I do but I could not get this one figured out until now. Babies change so much, so fast, that as they change there needs change...Gone are the days of the 3 hour morning nap in the swing!

Our mornings differ day to day, sometimes O will sleep solid till 7, sometimes she wakes up around 6 for a feed, so if she does i feed and we usually fall back asleep till 9 ish, if she sleeps solid till 7, then we get up for the day, but usualy 2-3 days a week we a get a sleepin day which is fine by me!

My friend had a consult with the sleep specialist...a british lady somewha like the baby whisperer and she shared a few tips with me like the the afternoon nap should be between 2-3 hours, and it should be the most protected so i started putting her down at 1 every day and we seem so be good, I've also noticed that her witching hour isn't as bad from 6-7 because she gets a good solid nap.

Since the time change i've been pushing her bedtime from 8pm back to 7 about 15 mins everyday to get back to an early bedtime and its worked out good.

Just when I think I got it..something will change next week I promise, but as for now, no more outings until naptime is over in the afternoon. I think we are gong to start our morning walk routine this week, the weather is great, I can walk to tims and get my coffee, get excersise and get some fresh air!....HOLLA TO SUMMER!!
