I'm a list junkie...and I'm talkin' old school write stuff down. Don't get me wrong I love my "notes" on my apple products but i also like a paper list...
Speaking of list's I have a list from here to mexico of things I need to get done this week!
Groceries...---If we didn't buy groceries we'd be millionaire's. We spend SOO much money on groceries every month, and I don't coupon or look at prices I just buy whatever, whenever, probably not smart, but I love grocery shopping!
Passports---we have serveral trips planned and O and I both need new passports so picture's are finished, papers are all signed I just need to get to the passport office
Clean--I'm 7 days in with no cleaning...its pretty bad
I'm also doing my first passion party on friday so i need to get organzied for that, and Tino's mom is coming so we need to make some plans for her. Also we are in midst of finalizing a few things before we sign the full on papers to build a new house. It seems like lists never end but it give's me some sort of accomplishment when crossing it off!
SLEEP---I can't wait to have a bath crawl into bed early read, watch TV and relax in the evening, i'm such an early bed, early riser kind of girl.

zzzzzzzzzzz.
I'm on evening 4 of 7 shifts in a row....and I don't do well on no sleep. Being tired and working isn't like being tired with a new baby...
I don't remember the drive home last night, we scanned 47 patients...now for you folks that don't know what that means...it means...HOLY %&*$ WE BROKE A RECORD!! When I get home home I usually load my dishes in the dishwasher, hang my coat up and give my hands a big wash. Sometimes I'll pick up some toys that Tino's eyes sometimes have missed our empty the garbage that Tino's eye's also missed but instead I dropped everything at the door, locked it, set the alarm crawled up the stairs, washed up and crawled into bed. The clock said 12:17am....and i didn't stir until I heard "DADDY" at 7:10. At that point i opened my nightstand drawer and found 2 earplugs, shoved them in as far as they could go, rolled over...and then I looked at the clock it said 9:36 am....
I strolled downstairs where Coach and O greeted me with hugs and kisses :) I was just as happy to see them, after playing Dr. ( I always have to be the patient) I made a coffee and Tino got Ottavia dressed and they left the house to run some errands. I drank coffee, read the news , did some banking, cleaned the kitchen, did a load of laundry...and walked around it circles waiting for everyone to come home.
My morning was wonderful, and its amazing what some sleep does for a person. I'm still really tired tonight but it seems as the the fullmoon crazies all came out before the actual fullmoon appeared (tonight)..THANK GOD!!
Only 3 shifts left after this!! yahoo I can see the end of the tunnell! ....
and so this is what i've done this week from the lack of slumber....
- put my wallet in the fridge
- poured water in my coffee instead of cream
-left my keys in the door all night long
-took chicken out and left it on the deep freeze

Dreaming of spring...
I bought O a new pair of rubber boots, i passed them twice then went back to get them, they were so cute. She was delighted to see them when she came home from the dayhome and has been wearing them around the house for the last couple days...scuff marks all over my hard wood and all!
Here are a few picture's of her gazing out the window, dreaming about all the puddles she can jump in, and toothpick races as soon as the snow starts to melt!
They seem to give her a jump in her step, she does a little stomp with each step she takes!

Gymnastics
This morning we braved the blistering cold and headed to gymnastics. To get out of the house before 10am is a battle, not only for me but for little miss lazy. I had no problem getting her to gobble up her breakfast once I told her it was gymnastics day.
We took the same class in the fall and I can't believe how much she's matured and how much stronger she's become since them. She finally learned how to jump! She bend's her knees and she's a little jumping bean, she LOVE's the big trampoline!

To get her to stop for a picture isn't easy :) |
Jumping away |
These ribbons are the coolest, even for me, she had 2 in her hands at one point. |

Its a great activity for the winter to get some exercise! And I've met a really great friend named Shae, here little one is 3 weeks young then O, and she also has a peanut allergy, and she will soon be a new neighbor!

Monday...PJ day...
It's past noon and we are still both in our pj's!! Its very rare that this happens but we have done absolutely nothing today..well not nothing, I've done laundry and cleaned up and fed my child, played with puzzles and the doorbell key house, played Dr., coloured, watched about 17 episodes of Dora, Read Oh the place's you'll go by Dr. Seuss about 30 times, played ring around the rosie until I was so dizzy I thought my coffee would cup right back up and...I think thats about it.
Sometimes its nice to have no commitment. Usually we'd be outside playing if it was warmer, I did contemplate going to get my van washed, but instead we've laid around and enjoyed our day. There are so many children's activities I could register for but sometimes its just to much. Not to say I'm not a morning person but we like to be lazy in the morning.
Here's a few random pics from the day!
It's very rare I allow the "blanky" out of the crib but it made its way down here this morning and hasn't made its way back upstairs! |
Tomorrow is a whole other story. Its a full day of getting organized, cooking blah blah blah in preparation of a long dreaded 7 in a row work stretch, thats a whole other post, but this is the last you may hear from me in a week or so...

pawwwty....pawwty..yah yah...
Pawwty...yah yah is the words that came out of O's mouth right after her nap yesterday. Here memory recall is unbelievable. Tino and I have to be careful because when we promise her something, she doesn't forget.
Ottavia was invited to her friends care bear birthday party yesterday. I didn't tell her till the morning that we get to go to a party. I asked her at breakfast time if she liked party's... she nodded and said pawwty...all done, pushed her breakfast away jumped out of her chair and ran to the door to get her shoe's on. It was a long morning of explaining..not yet but soon!
Off to the party we went, I didn't know how she would be, strange place, lots of people, but I couldn't get her shoes and coat off fast enough. She played, and played hard. Jumping in the bouncy castle, running around like crazy. Its so cute to see her with other kids. There was too older girls there that Ottavia loved, they were herding her around like a little sheep, she loved them.
We ended with pizza, cake and prezzies. When we got home she was so excited to see daddy and open her loot bag full of great loot, as that was happening I slipped out the door to go for a couple drinks with some other mom friends from the party. It was unplanned and those nights are usually the funnest but we behaved ourselves. I was yawning at 8pm but survived.
By 800am this morning Ottavia was all inked up with her new tattoo's, birthday hat on and enjoying her loot bag to the fullest.
I had to post this last picture. Perhaps it was the birthday hat the she has demanded to wear all morning or the feeding of her baby but I can't get enough of the cuteness involved with the entire situation!

So much Positive
This year I have so much to look forward too....
Building/moving into a new house----this process is so fun, although I told Tino last night tthat colour choosing is kind of in my favour and not to question my choices because lets be honest here...a partially colour blind man that cannot tell the difference between red pink and purple, and a manly man doesn't make great colour choices probably shouldn't choose colours. For example. "Lets paint our bedroom a dark royal blue"......Really I reply with a grin, trying hard not to bust out in laughter...he says yes really, when i thought he was joking.
Trips/holidays----We have several holidays scheduled in the for the year. I'm flying to Grande prairie by myself for a weekend to support and auction for a friends sick little girl, I'm looking forward to spending time with some good old friends, and will be hands free from the coach and little O. It will be nice DEENA time. We are also headed to florida for 3 weeks in the spring, seattle for a friends wedding, and little getaways planned here and there. The next 6 months will be full of adventure, with and without the little one.
Getting fit----I will be the skinniest I ever am. This year started off on the right foot with getting fit and healthy and I'm well on my way. Diet is one thing but excersise is another, I crave it and it becomes addicting! Also another baby is not in the future at the moment. Planning for a baby is a 2 year situation, being pregnant and having a new baby is a big deal, and as a planner, it just doesn't fit into the life plans this year.
Watching my baby turn into a little girl----Ottavia is getting much easier to port around. She's so good and pure Girl...what I mean is, she doesn't try to get out of her crib, i can give her a book and a snack or a chapstick and she'd be happy for hours. As we move closer to the fall I think she'll be almost ready to give up her nap. I'm happy and sad at the same time. I love the 3 hours to myself in the afternoon to do anything I want, but I'm also house bound everyday except dayhome days to the house because as a responsible parent, its not fair to not let my little one nap, she loves her nap, and we love a well rested little one. Speaking of chapstick, she LOVES lipstick, everytime she brushes her teeth in our bathroom she asks for lipstick after!
Happy saturday everyone!

The little things...I savour...
Now that Ottavia is just over 2 the baby stage is slowly dwindling and it makes me so sad. I get teary eye'd just thinking about it. Now when she sits on my lap and has quiet time before bed or nap watching an episode of Dora or reading a story, I take the time to study her features..run her little toes between my fingers (which she loves and so did I when i was little, my dad still reminds me of "rub a toe, rub a toe") smell her hair, kiss her little cheeks or just close my eye's and hold her tight.
Bedtime is the best time ever. You don't hear that from very many people but we've always made bedtime enjoyable relaxing and scheduled. Most recently while giving Ottavia her before bed bottle ( yes i know she's 2 but she won't go to grade one with her bottle or her bedtime susu (soother) I've started singing. I never used to be able to do that because she would cry, my mom said i used to do the same thing but now she wants me to sing..while rubbing my face with her hand, susu, blanky and baby in the other arm, in between gulps of her bottle she'l belt out a "staaaaaaaaaaw" which is star for twinkle twinkle. Then after her milk she points to her bed we lay her down, zip her into her sleep sack..say love you and its lights out...thats if she doesn't start saying momma momma momma and covering my head with her blanky while pressing her face against mine, so then its another 10 minutes of savouring moments that I LOVE and I will always make time for.
There is something about a little cuddly girl that say's momma and rubs her nose against mine, or tips her head back so i can nuzzle in her neck to hear a giggle, or puckers her lips for a giant genuine kiss!
I keep saying this at every stage but I think this age is my favourite! She's so funny, witty and such a smart little shit. Copies everything! Tonight I'm at work but she saw me put a shower cap on the other day before i hopped in the shower! While brushing her teeth tonight in our bathroom she saw it and the coach said she insisted on wearing it! TOO CUTE!

You know those morning's when roll over and look at the clock and close your eye's and say to yourself...just 10 more minutes...and then it happens about 5 times?? Well I actually forget what that feels like because sleeping in isn't really an option when you have a 2 year. This morning it HAPPENED...it was 8:32 till we heard the little voice say..Momma :). We took full advantage of the sleep in this morning, its the first time in a long time we strolled down stairs and the sun was up, but pleasantly welcomed!
After enjoying a Giant cup of Joe and reading stories to the little one, I stripped our bed (which is a king and HOLY HELL its a lot of work washing a king size bed) and Ottavia's crib (thats another work out, bumper pads SUCK, but so does a crying baby in the night if she's banged her head on the side of the crib) loaded up all the towels and all the laundry and called to the Coach through the heat register in our bedroom down to his office in my sweetest voice possible, "can you help me"!!! Hauling laundry to basement also sucks! Its almost 3 pm and I'm 6 loads in, with 3 more to go!
I have a few valuable things to share!!
singlecup.ca--
If you own a keurig, then you know K-cups are expensive and I'm a coffee snob so I can't say I love the kinds costco sells. This website is based in calgary and you get your order shipped to your door within 2 days via purolator. They have great brands including starbucks and caribou coffee which happen to be my 2 favourites. Sure we spent 250$ on coffee but we are good now for a few months!
Magic eraser's Bathroom
I used to be a firm believer or norwex etc, but thats gone out the window! We have a giant walk in sit down shower and to clean that baby is the biggest pain in the ass you could ever imagine, so the magic eraser is the greatest invention ever! wet it and scrub it down! I'm all about chemical so first i spray the whole shower down with Vim, get naked and go town on the shower, its the only way!
I think thats it!! I could tell you about how much i love lululemon and you'd be shocked if you walked in my closet to see that 50% of my wardrobe is lulu, 20% scrubs, and the rest is a mish mash of everything!...that doesn't include shoes!
Now all this together gets me to one point! We have started to hunt for a new house. Not sure if we are going to build, buy new, buy old and reno but right now we are obsessed and spend alot of time shooting idea's back and forth to each other while researching lots and searching MLS
There are a few wants but mostly needs that this house will need to meet.
Needs:
double sink in the ensuite ( So one day i can rest assure that my toothbrush has not come in contact with Tino's nose hairs that he pretends are all wiped up)
Upstairs laundry (because I'm a princess)
Bonus room ( because its just a bonus!)
mudroom with walk in closet ( for once can I just have all my shoes and coats in one spot!)
pantry ( oh my word, I can't even imagine not having to stand on a stool to get my flour down from the back of the highest cabinet or while putting away pyrex dishes smash my finger between 2 of them because they are stacked so freakin tight in the tiny corner cupboard that isn't even made for dishes while all the tupperware in the front of the cupboard falls out then a 2 year thinks its a toy and next thing you know it, its an hour ordeal just to get one dish put away.
We are talking a 20 year investment. I've been in Calgary for almost 10 years and i've moved 3 times. The thought of moving again give's me anxiety and i don't even know what anxiety feels like! It's alot of work to move therefore I'm not doing it again after this.
Don't get me wrong, our house we are in now has so many memories, it was our FIRST home we bought together, got pregnant in, brought our first baby home too...learnt how to cut grass and wash windows :)
I just heard my laundry beep...that means its been a long post!

Sunday Influenza Day???
I've been working all weekend so I don't have much to report, other then the snow is still falling like crazy which i don't mind, it makes the city look clean!
Influenza has hit Calgary hard and with my job I see when influenza has gone bad..scanning these patients is GROSS and if you haven't got your flu shot I think you should...
When the cat is away the mice will play! Ottavia is so into her baby these days. Its amazing how fast she learns things and her memory recall is unbelievable. Yesterday she put Tino in a time out because he didn't want to sit with her at her little table any longer. Here are a few picture's of what happens when i'm not home!
It looks like she will be a good little mama one day!

B.U.S.Y
I hate when people talk about how busy and tired they are. It's like it makes them feel superior or more important. Well, this week has been busy.....doing what you ask? Read this article, and add working and other things too it. I'm not at all complaining nor would I change my life, but if I haven't called you or I look like shit and haven't washed my hair in 2 days, don't ask what's wrong! There is nothing wrong, but instead of doing something that needs to be done, I chose to crawl into bed and read a book and enjoy 2 hours of silence!! Friends with no kids....you sometimes just don't get it, that's ok, we were all there once too.
It's Friday night which means watching dateline in bed night with the coach. He's already up there and if my mattress warmer isn't turned on when I get up there, he may get the biggest Licken of his life :) Good night!

Weekend Wrap up
This weekend I had Zero plans. Coach had an ID camp all weekend at MRU which meant O and I were free as birds. It ended up being a busy eventful weekend.
Ottavia LOVES to be outside so on saturday morning we met up with my mat leave bestie and Ottavia's Fiance' Alex and went tobogganing. We had a ball and all screached in delight as we flew over the bumps, spun in circles with 4 of us on the old school wooden toboggan. We went for brunch after rosie cheeked and all.
The weekend was also filled with a nice sunday Dinner of butter chicken, berry Cobbler (which i've posted about 3 years ago) and Manicure's.
Tomorrow is my first day of work since December 16th. I'm very much ready!

GROSS!!
I can't hardly type this, because I get the giggles so bad just thinking about it. Santa brought Tino and I new tooth brush's for christmas. Mine is clearly marked with Pink nail polish
A couple nights ago i'm laying in bed reading and he come's out of the bathroom and says to me...did you use my toothbrush?? I started laughing and my exact words were...are you retarded?? You just got over the flu and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't use your toothbrush because thats disgusting. So he says.....why is mine wet and your's is dry?? I burst into an uncontrolled giggle for a few reasons...#1 being the GROSSEST thing imaginable is using someone's toothbrush, and because it was so funny because I had obviously used it.
Why?? I'm not sure, but I promise you one thing...IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!

Pico De .WHAT???
Yesterday I made a batch of Pico De Gallo....since i'm all mexician and stuff i like to say it the right way, pronounced Pico d'guyo....Right.....
Okay so moving along I made a big batch of SALSA!!! (cause i'm not spanish) hehehehehe.
Its delicious but a bit potent. Tino told me my breath smelt like an onion mixed with stinky morning breath from not brushing my teeth....( brushing teeth story will come on a different blog tonight) He did risk kissing me this morning and thats how potent the salsa is. I eat it on everything. Its a great dressing or dip replacement and healthy all at the same time.
I also added a touch of salt, and some Franks Red Hot.
On another note I went to the movie THIS IS 40 last night. It was good, I think it should be called THIS IS 34...or really whatever age you are because I've come to realize all husbands are the same in so many ways...

Running
In August I started a running program on my own. My bestie Tanis who owns a running store in edmonton emailed it to me and I commited to it, completed it, surpassed it, and LOVED IT. It became very addictive, not to mention I lost 25 pounds doing it. Its been a 6 week break, and I'm up 6 pounds from eating total shit this past month..my pajama's are tight..So lame.
This isn't a new years goal, this is just getting back on track, and I'm a bit OCD so once i get my mind on something and see results..look out. Tino is dreading the cottage cheese, chicken and lettuce for all meals coming up for the next 3 months. I need to be in a bikini by april 11th so I have 28 pounds to go. This isn't going to be easy but I will do it!
There is something said about going out and sweating, I feel so good after and its just a way of life.
I have commited to a 12 km run in canmore for mother's day with my bestie of 30 year, and I'm also going to Grande Prairie in may to do the 10km press run!
Here are a few things to get me started back on track:

Garmin GPS watch ( OMG so hardcore, but SO FREAKIN AWSOME! measure's elevation etc)....another gift from the coach...what a great supportive husband I might add!
If thats not enough to motivate someone I'm not sure what is...

Welcome 2013
It is a brand new year!! I love it, and I love these two love birds. Welcome back friends! I look forward to blogging A LOT this year.
Although today is the new beginning, its also a day for lasts, its the last day to eat things such as french toast and bacon, Almond Rocha, and chinese. Its also the last day to not have to brush hair or teeth, because lets be honest, its the last day before reality kicks in at the Fusco's.
