sleep.....less

We have hit a wall, and I knew this would happen. Ottavia's sleeping through the night from 12-14 hours has come to an end with night waking and needing a feeding, or just needing to see us and also hardly any naps during the day....

Now i'm not looking for the " I told you so" opinion on this one cause honestly every parent has there own way of doing things...

So here goes, I've read happiest baby on the block, the baby whisperer, baby wise, healthy sleep habits happy child, and the 12 step sleep book....yup i've read it all

Going down at night is not at all a problem and never has, Ottavia goes to sleep at night with no problem, we have a routine, she knows when its bedtime and out like a light, and until one week ago tonight she has been waking up between 2-4 for a feed. This is not a growth spurt, and I know she can go without this feed, or she wakes up every hour needing her soother....so here is our plan....Tonight i'm letting her cry, no consoling, turning off the monitor, shutting our door and letting all hell break loose...I'm totally doing it, she's so cute i love her she loves me...but I"m DONE..i'm tired, I'm cranky and I will not let this go on another day. I'm hoping by thursday she gets herself sorted out.

Now, i'm being quite ambitious here, we are also starting our nap routine tomorrow, she has not been a great napper in her crib, and these few 20 minute snoozes are not cutting it either...its a catch 22, more sleep..the better they sleep so this week i'm staying put and getting this acomplished...wish me luck....

going green...to the extreme...

This post has a bit of history to it...so i hope your ready...

Yesterday we were at the ACH for a repositioning clinic for Ottavia, she is favouring one side, therefore getting a touch of a flat head, but not severe enough to go to the head clinic, so of course we get there...right at her nap time which = Disaster...almost as bad as being stuck on an airplane with a crying baby...yup..i was the mom with the bad baby that was screaming her face off, everyone was totally fine in the class, of course we are at the most excepting place in the world for a screaming baby.....THINK AGAIN......Being the courteous mother i step out of the room into the hallway to give her a breather...look at pictures....look out the window and this older porter come's up to me and says......maybe you should change her diaper......ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????? IS MY CRYING BABY BOTHERING YOU IN THE ALBERTA CHILRENS HOSPTIAL AND DO I LOOK LIKE I'M IN DISTRESS OR STRESSED OUT??? NOOOOOO.........so my response.....noooo, I only change her diaper every few days or so, and its only been one day, so I really don't think its that......and she got the drift and walked away...honest to god..who does that????????....

anyways, Ottavia is going to start physio to strenghten her left side and get her neck back to normal, they think during delivery beause she was stuck on my pelvis for so long it could of pinched a nerve or is too tight so thats totally fine, i wasn't overly concerned, if they told me she needed a helmet, I would of cried at first..but it would be accepted, and she still might so i'm open to whatever we need to do to help my little nugget....we are also going to see a baby chiro to help adjust, but not really adjust but to help her get better too.....

this then takes me to babies r us where we loaded up and few new toys based for tummy time and side play because she deserved them after her long day....

Okay..here is where it all begins, as i'm sure all mothers know..you don't have a purse anymore its a diaper bag, but when i go into one store i don't hall the diaper bag in, just my wallet and thats what I did yesterday at babies r us, so on our way out of the store i stuffed my wallet in the toy bag cause my hands were full. When we got home i was so excited I ripped open all our toys so we could start all our excersises and forgot my wallet was in there, and just stuffed all the carboard and recycling back into the bag...that i through outside so Tino has to walk over it or grab it and put it in the recycle bin at the back, which he did like a great husband would...and GONZO....the big recycle truck came this morning....

So today I bathed the baby, had a shower, completed 2 loads of ottavia's laundry, vaccumed and washed my hardwood, unloaded the dishes, had 2 cups of coffee and play time with my baby, and was headed out to my weight watchers meeting when i doubled checked in my bag for wipes diapers sleeper formula bottles, cellphone, my list..my wallet....my wallet....OMFG........

First things first, I called the smartest guy in the world mr. Tino Fusco himself....he told me to call 311 which i did, gave them a description of what was in our recycling which was alot do to baby excersaucer that was purchased, a new tv which had a big box etc...they said they would call the truck right away and getback to me....I waited and about 40mins later......Hi sorry, we dumped 150 Tonnes of recycling today and if they find it on the conveyor belt they will send it to the police..so consider it GONE.....ugh...

Well....smarty pants mr fusco again....he had his wallet stolen this past summer and we made a list of everything that was in our wallets, so i've already got a new credit card coming, bluecross, airmiles and alberta health care cards, i ran to the bank tonight and got a new debit card and a drivers licsense..now the other main things is mine and Ottavia's SIN cards...i know..never carry them in your wallet, now i've learnt my lesson......SO LAME...

Stay warm....phew that was alot to say :)

Apple Product Addict...

So over the weekend Tino came up with a good plan, now I honestly think its a big exuse to buy an ipad and a new fully loaded apple desktop, but I do like his way of thinking. We are electronic junkies when it comes to computer's, tv's etc. Our house is almost paperless, we do all our bill's online, it reduces in mail, paper, recycling etc. As for cookbooks, i'm totally done. I find all my reciepes online and bookmark them....I still can't spell recipe...or maybe thats right....

Anyways, no more dvd player, we can connect our computer to our TV, no more wire's, all keyboards mouse etc is all wireless, its great!

I hope everyone had a good weekend

I am a MOM!!!!..its official

ALL BECAUSE OF THIS!!

It's official, I never EVER EVER thought I would say this, mark my words...i'm still delaying saying it......WE ARE BUYING A MINI VAN HAHAHAHAHAH.....yep, to all those other mothers out there..HELL YA....now I know why have one.

Here are a few reasons, a big SUV is just a gas pig, and not environmently friendly, they are too big to park, i'm to short that i'd have to stand on the rail to get my baby in, and...SUV's are over rated, it was the cool thing to do, and eventhough I'm cool...i'm gonna be driving a mini van.

Here are some issue's i've been having with my VW Tiguan...

Space--- We have a really awsome stroller, the orbit baby, that collapses so easy it only weighs a few pounds and its in my hatch always, once you buy groceries, have a baby, my workout bag, my diaper bag, not to mention the crap you have drop off one day, or even another passanger....we are full. Seriously tight squeeze for the 3 of us, I can't imagine having another child with 2 carseats in that little car.

Doors---the honda oddessy's doors open by themselves..HEAVEN!!!! and close by themselves too

Travel---its safe, comfortable and lots of room to haul me, tino, baby stroller, golfclubs, luggage, snacks...etc

It took me 32 years of shaking my head saying I will never drive a minivan to realize why I need a minivan. I promise all you wannabe mom's or expecting moms...when you are grocery shopping and need to open the door and the ass beside you parked so close that you can't....you'll want a minivan too...or when you have your coolio SUV and go to put your baby in the back and you smack your head on the top...you'll want a minivan...or when grandmas and grandpas come for a visit and you can't fit them in your vehicle...you'll want a minivan...or when you fill your gas tank and its 100$ every 10 days..you'll want a minivan...

We had a good laugh last night with our friends...one couple of which are not married yet and have no babes but its all in the future they shook there heads at us and said..nope Acura SUV all the way....and the other couple with 2 kids said..DO IT...its the BEST!!

Enjoy your long weekend!

Snow Day..

So here I am, up and at em...i've got laundry going, my grocery list made, the dishes are done, i cleaned the bathroom, finishing my 1st cup of coffee.....and my baby is still sleeping, I CANNOT believe it, she went to bed last night at 7pm and its almost 9 am....holy good snooze...holy wet diaper ahead, i can hear her stirring but I want her to wake on her own...happy momma over here.

So i'Ve been on a bit of a health kick latley, i'm trying to get my body back...back i'm talking..how it was a few years back and so far so good. I really enjoy cooking and eating so I thought finding recipes that were lower in fat and sodium would be difficult but its not. I came accross this blog called skinnytaste.com.....Her name is Gina, she is fabulous and she give's all the nutrition information, even the weight watchers points that go along with the portion size. I've really found this blog helpfull. Tino has also cut down his portions and snacking too, its easy to snack in the evening and there is no need for it, we have dinner around 6 so by the time thats done its later and eating that late is just simply bad. I've been buying these bags of organic apples from superstore, they are soo good, especially in the afternoon around 4pm when your getting hungry for dinner but don't want to snack, the apple always helps along with a cup of tea..Red roobibus vanilla to be exact.

So anyways i found a recipe on there for baked potatoe soup, it looks fabulous and with all this snow today I think we will venture out for groceries and warm our souls with the soup.

Yesterday we had salsa baby class and it was quite the workout, i was sweating buckets. I tried my new baby carrier the Ergo for the first time and it was awsome, the back support was great, she loved it, but it was quite hot, i mean i was working out with her on me but i can see it being quite toasty in the summer. I have to say its way better then the baby hawk i had....the Ergo is my choice all the way!

Have a great day everyone!

Ottavia's Monthly New letter: 3 months

Dear Ottavia,

You have developed so much in the past month and have changed into a little person right before our eyes. You are still such a pleasure to have around, sometimes you never make a peep only if your really tired or hungry or just want to be left alone then you let somebody know. Your starting to make more sounds, pretty soon you will screech with delight, you just about did it today.

You have hit some major milestones. You are getting better at tummy time and holding your head up for longer. You don't cry or hate it as much, sometimes you even give me a big smile, we try and do tummy time 3 times a day even if its only for 2 minutes. You are geting really good and holding your head up but not quite ready for the bumbo chair or an excersaucer. Your wanting to roll over, you still really favour your right side but your starting to lift that part of your body up, I always have the camera ready.

We have really fallen into a great bedtime routine. Mommy and Daddy do it together, as soon as we bring you upstairs and turn on the music you start to relax, we change your diaper, fill your humidifier, heat your bottle, fluff your bead up, we still swaddle you and then give you a bottle and snuggle. You get so sleep sleepy so fast, its like you know its bedtime. When i put you down i usually pop your soother in and your fast asleep. This past week you slept 12 hours straight for 2 nights, I can hear you stir in the night but I don't go in until I know you really need me. We are so proud of you, yet sad, it means your really growing too fast.

In the mornings we also have our routine, daddy usually goes and get you, and give you him a big smile, he changes you and brings you downstairs, sometimes we snuggle in the bed and I nurse you. You are extra cute and snuggly in the morning, we get so excited to see you, I miss you when you sleep. After you eat we have play time on the floor, I call it coffee talk, you really coo and respond to me. You love face time, as long as someone talks to you your pretty happy and you talk back.

You have really started to notice your surroundings, you love your crib aqaurium, your mobile, lights...and even the TV can entertain you for a whole hour while i shower. Your starting to reach out for things and sometimes hit your hand against them, your getting ready to grab on to them. You love to hold onto your bottle with both hands, speaking of bottles we switch to the playtex drop ins this month..you love them, not to mention you are really enjoying the soother..we use it when we need it..like in the carseat!

We continue to do salsa baby class, you usually fall asleep, but everyone can't get over all your hair and blue eyes...will they turn dark or will you be fair skinned unlike mommy or daddy..

This past month you met your gramma and grandpa for the first time, you were such a good little baby and smiled at them, it was quite special.

Ottavia we continue to grow together everyday, you are truly a special little gift to us and although we can't wait to play with you, we enjoy every moment we get. Your such a great little baby....we love you

Love mommy and daddy

weather......FRIENDS OFF....

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, so yesterday i spent the whole day primping for my friend Megans anticipated wedding in banff...shaving legs, plucking eyebrows..spending time and effort on hair and make up...bought a new dress, tino wore his suit, I bought Ottavia a new outfit, made bottles, boiled water, packed her bag, charged my camera, bought a new pair of heels..........you get the point.....

The weather had been decent since wednesday, I remember texting her saying your going to have a beautiful wedding day.....

Sooooooo we didn't go to the ceremony that was at 3:00 because the party didn't start till 630 and we didn't get a room because tino has training early sunday morning......so what would we do with the babe for 3 hours...

ANYWAYS.....off we go at 430......the sky got darker and darker and as cars passed us going the other way they were covered in snow.....BAM...right near the chocrane exit we got HAMMERED..blowing snow highway covered we crawled along not saying anything.....then Tino spoke up...Babe, I don't think this is a good idea....we could hardly see anything driving at 50kms.....then 2 minutes later..".whats this going to be like at 9 or 10 pm"........then he veared off on the morley exit and I cried.....but I knew it was the right decision, we never made it to the wedding or to banff.....

I'm sure Megan looked gorgeous...i was saving up for a few glasses of wine and a nice dinner, I specially wrapped her gift cause she is a special friend.....

Oh well, instead we got take out came home and stayed warm....we are in for another 20cm snowfall warning. I've got my chilli in the crockpot and I'll just have to get over it...
