Today there was A LOT of baby talk, i don't have a bun in the oven yet, but what I do have is a lot of questions, how do you know when your ready, how rewarding is it, do you miss your before life? Getting up in the night and nursing a baby doesn't sound like fun at all, nor does living on a maternity leave income, no more vacations, no sleep, and giving up our last room in our house. On the flip side there is so much joy a child brings, I have seen that in new parents, so right now in my life i'm at a toss, i can easily wait a couple years, but my clock is ticking and sooner is better then later, but there are so many if's ands or buts about it...so there.
I have bought a few books, what to expect before expecting, and another one i can't remember the name off the top of my head. I'm learning a lot, and I find it interesting...so tell me this...
How do you know when your ready???
Ohh that's the big question. I think if you are buying books you are ready. Most of your bad things are not really that bad. The getting up in the night is not fun and there are days I do miss my kid free life. Miss sitting on the couch after a hard day of work. But when you have kids you get to play with them and they make you forget about your bad day of work. You can still go on vacations, and you get to see new things through there eyes, which is way more fun.

Sounds like you are getting close. Vacations will change a bit at the beginning but it is all worth it. Save a bit of extra money before you go on Mat leave and then you have some vacay money or money to buy a larger purchase. Somedays I want a day off and that is what the husbands are for. "Sorry honey, I have a pedicure appt. and there is milk in the fridge". Yes, getting up in the night is no fun but listening to the laughter of your child is so rewarding. Jacky
